MEET DR. MARK SMITH

Mark S. Smith, DC, DABCN, FACFN is a leading functional neurology practitioner in the Richmond, Virginia area. He practices in Midlothian, Virginia on the South side of Richmond, with many of his patients coming from around the region to be treated for neurodegenerative and neuro- immunological disorders, trauma, as well as disorders of movement, balance, and development. He began practice in 1977 and has never stopped advancing his knowledge in the fields of physical medicine, neurology, biochemistry and rehabilitation.

After graduating from Logan College of Chiropractic in 1977, Dr. Smith moved to McLean, Virginia to open his first practice later that year. In 1991, he started his postgraduate neurology training and in 1993, after grueling exams, he received his Board Certification in Chiropractic Neurology.

Continually learning in order to better help his patients, Dr. Smith completed considerable post-graduate studies in functional medicine, clinical nutrition therapies for chronic and acute disease conditions, physical therapy, rehabilitation, applied kinesiology, x-ray diagnosis, acupuncture and more.

He continues to keep his neurology certification up-to-date with more than 30-hours of neurology training per year; as well as participating in clinical nutrition and functional medicine courses held throughout the country. Additionally, Dr. Smith’s office is certified as a Center of Excellence in the application of Therapeutic Lifestyle Therapies based on NIH guidelines.


Having been in practice since 1977, Dr. Smith has seen the powerful benefits of chiropractic firsthand. He shares his knowledge and experience with people as a consultant and speaker throughout the region. He’s also represented Chiropractic on the radio and television, as well as national print media.


As the only active board-certified chiropractic neurologist in the region, Dr. Smith uses his expert knowledge of the spine, the brain, and nutritionally-based programs to help his patients achieve lasting health and a safer future.
