How Poor Food Choices Are Killing Us

As we enter this new year full of potential, I want to circle back to food for a moment, just to highlight the urgency and critical nature that food plays in our health. Why? I wrote this blog two years ago, and the overall situation with food in this country has not improved, nor has the epidemic of chronic disease. Food is a MAJOR driver of chronic disease, a fact I will focus on in the next few blogs by showing you what the science says.

Most experts feel that it is responsible for 80% of chronic degenerative health disorders. Most of the time the effects of eating processed foods are not felt immediately, which is one reason people have trouble getting it that their food plan may be destroying their health. So I want to let you see what the science says about processed foods:

The researchers in this article state that: “….through the sale and promotion of tobacco, alcohol, and ultra-processed food and drink (unhealthy commodities), trans-national corporations are major drivers of global epidemics of Non-Communicable Diseases ( NCD’s).”

I hope you got that statement that unhealthy foods actually cause global epidemics of degenerative disease!! Wow!! Put it another way: unhealthy foods drive conditions like: heart disease, cancer, anxiety, dementia, depression, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, chronic fatigue, memory loss, anxiety and more! These are the non-communicable diseases that they are talking about, they typically take years to creep up on us, and what we eat is the major driver! Yikes! Wow!! But on the other hand, this is some empowering information…it means that we can take control and do something about it…something like cleaning up our food plan!!

Bottom Line: Purchase high quality, organic whole foods…get interested in vegetables…learn to cook if you need to…avoid processed, prepared and packaged foods at all costs (make it a rarity in your life)…eat to live as opposed to live to eat and start looking at whole food as the real medicine that it is. You can control your health destiny starting with great whole food. It is your choice…please make the best ones for your health so that you can live a long and healthy life and be of good service.
